Attention!
The program is designed

The strong requirement:
Macromedia Flash Player

Program windows

The program consists of several windows:

Main window

The main window default configuration contains 5 toolbars each of which can be visible/unvisible and dragged to any place.

Main Window
Main Toolbar Slide List Toolbar Image settings Toolbar Motion to the next slide Toolbar Playback Toolbar

FlashSlider is SDI software (Single Document Interface) so you should run the program again to open two and more projects.

The Welcome! window

The Welcome! window appears just after the FlashSlider running and requires either to Create a new project or Open an already existing project.

Double-click to open a project.

Movie properties window

To edit movie properties choose Menu > Edit > Movie properties.

The new project requests to set Movie properties and choose one slide (an image file) at least. The first project's size is 400x300 pixels but size changing will be saved for next projects.

The Movie properties window consists four pages: General, Navigation, Sound and Preloader.

General:

  • Movie size in pixels (Wight, Height);
  • Background color (Transparent or Color: click the example box to choose any background color);
  • Movie URL: "Add total url" option to make a global link. Check the option > type URL > choose Target.

Target specifies the frame or window in which the linked page should be loaded: _blank, _parent, _self, _top, _level0 (to learn more about link targeting read HTML specificaton).

Navigation:

  • Navigation buttons (Play and Pause, Rewind, Next and Previous);
  • 3 types of actions after the movie finish (Go to first slide (cicled); Stop; Load another movie). The "Load another movie" option is helpful for dividing of any large movie to several movies. In that case the next movie is downloaded and shown just after the current one.

Sound:

  • Browse a music file (wav or mp3) for Background sound;
  • Choose Sound mode:
    • stop sound when movie stops;
    • set Loops for this sound track repeating.
    • Test button is for playing a music file.

There are 2 sound modes of Flash: Streaming and Event. Streaming sound stops when movie stops; Event sound does not stop when the movie finishes, it will play so many times as it will be set. So it is better to choose Event mode (Do not stop sound) in case the movie showing is cycled.

FlashSlider supports the music file formats: *.wav (except ADPCM-coding) and *.mp3. To learn music file formats: right click on music file > Properties > Summary tab > Audio format.

Preloader:

Check the Include preloader option, choose the preloader from the list in the Source box and test the one (shows just the preloader view). Set size of the preloader in the Preloader position box (you can choose Stretch to slideshow with or with no Constrain proportions or put the one in any place of the screen with the same size).

Movie Publishing window

The "Movie Publishing" window pops up after choosing the "Publish Movie" option ( Menu > File > Publish Movie or "Ctrl+E" keys) and includes two boxes:

Main options: set FPS (Frame-per-Second) and check the "Compressed" option (for SWF 6 and later only);

Publish type: choose either SWF file or HTML (HTML page and SWF file will be generated) or Macromedia projector (*.exe file including both player and movie)

SWF file

The program generates a SWF file (Macromedia ShockWave Flash format). Choose showing of result after completing the movie: using default viewer or default explorer; or to not show at all.

HTML

This process generates a SWF file and an HTML file. HTML file template: select one of templates of HTML page or browse yours. Code template of movie object is used for forming the HTML-page code; it can be useful for web-masters.

Macromedia projector

This process generates *.exe file which includes both player and movie. That allows you to copy or remove the movie to another computer (with or without Flash Player on that computer). FlashSlider finds out is there Macromedia Flash player or you can browse any other player (in case several players on your computer). You can download Macromedia Flash Player from the site: http://www.macromedia.com
